Carefully selected bloodlines from around the world produce horses renowned for their strength, stamina and temperament, making them perfectly suited for riding across Laikipia’s open plains, forests and wildlife areas.Throughout the journey, riders are paired with well-schooled horses chosen to match their experience and riding style, allowing guests to explore the landscape in a way few safari experiences can offer. Non-riding guests are equally welcome, with a full safari experience including game drives, walks and time to relax and enjoy Sirai House.
ARRIVAL IN NAIROBI – FLIGHT TO LOLLDAIGA HILLS
Day 1
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, guests are met and escorted directly to their privately chartered Caravan aircraft for the onward flight to Lolldaiga. After a scenic flight over Kenya’s central highlands, land at the private airstrip at Lolldaiga Conservancy and transfer to Lolldaiga House, a charming ranch house set high in the hills with panoramic views across the conservancy. Guests will be welcomed by Venetia Macleod, Head of Sirai Stud, who will guide the riding experience throughout the stay. In the afternoon, guests will be introduced to the exceptional Sirai Stud horses, where Venetia and the team will carefully pair each rider with the horse best suited to their experience and riding style. Once matched, set out on your first ride across the conservancy, moving quietly through open plains and acacia woodland where wildlife such as zebra, giraffe and antelope roam freely. Return to Lolldaiga House for sundowners overlooking the hills before dinner.
RIDING ACROSS LOLLDAIGA CONSERVANCY
Day 2
Begin the day with a morning ride exploring the spectacular landscapes of Lolldaiga Conservancy. With more than 45,000 acres of rolling hills, open plains and forest, the conservancy offers exceptional riding terrain and sweeping views across Laikipia. Guided by Venetia and the Sirai team, rides may include scenic trails through woodland or exhilarating canters across open grasslands. Return to Lolldaiga House for lunch followed by a relaxed afternoon to enjoy the house and its surroundings. Guests may unwind beside the swimming pool, stroll through the gardens and terraces, or simply relax while taking in the sweeping views across the conservancy. Dinner is served at Lolldaiga House.
HORSEBACK JOURNEY FROM LOLLDAIGA TO BORANA CONSERVANCY
Day 3
After breakfast, set out on horseback for a memorable ride across the Laikipia landscape from Lolldaiga Conservancy to Borana Conservancy. Riding across open plains and rolling hills, this journey offers spectacular views across the Laikipia Plateau with Mount Kenya rising in the distance. Wildlife sightings are common along the way as riders move quietly through the landscape. Arrive at Sirai House, one of Kenya’s most extraordinary private homes, set on a 250-acre private estate within Borana Conservancy. Lunch is served at the house followed by a relaxed afternoon to enjoy the exceptional facilities of Sirai House. Guests may unwind by the heated swimming pool, enjoy a complimentary spa treatment, spend time in the cinema or games room, or relax on the terraces overlooking the plains and waterhole. Dinner is served at Sirai House.
RIDING THROUGH NGARE NDARE FOREST
Day 4
After breakfast, set out on horseback for a ride through the beautiful Ngare Ndare Forest, an indigenous forest corridor at the foothills of Mount Kenya. Riding beneath the forest canopy offers a striking contrast to the open plains of Laikipia. The forest is rich in birdlife and often home to elephant and colobus monkeys, creating a peaceful and immersive riding experience. At the stud, syces will take the horses while guests enjoy a private viewing of the broodmares and young stock, gaining insight into the breeding philosophy behind the exceptional Sirai horses. Breakfast is served overlooking the paddocks. Return to Sirai House for lunch followed by a relaxed afternoon. Guests may choose to enjoy a spa treatment, work out in the gym, take a stroll through the gardens, or relax on the verandas with views across the conservancy. Dinner is served at Sirai House.
RIDING ACROSS BORANA CONSERVANCY
Day 5
This morning’s ride explores the sweeping plains of Borana Conservancy, offering exciting opportunities to canter across open ground while taking in the spectacular scenery and wildlife of the conservancy. Guests ride west across Borana to a bush breakfast beneath the acacia trees, a memorable moment in the landscape. After breakfast, guests may choose to ride back to Sirai House or return by vehicle while the horses are led home. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the final moments at Sirai House. Guests may relax by the pool, play a match on the tennis court, enjoy the cinema room, or simply unwind on the terraces overlooking the plains before a final evening at the house.
BORANA – FLIGHT TO NAIROBI
Nairobi
After breakfast, transfer to the Borana airstrip for the private charter flight back to Nairobi, arriving in time for onward international departures.
