Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 – JKI/Lake Baringo
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport , you will be welcomed by our representative and guide who will assist you to transfer to your charter flight- to Baringo Airstrip (baggage allowance is strictly 15kgs per person).
On arrival, you will be transferred by the lodge vehicle to the jetty and boat transfer to your island lodge. The small and exclusive Samatian Island Lodge is set on a small private island on Lake Baringo in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. With its breath-taking views across the bronze waters of the lake to the imposing backdrop of the Laikipia Escarpment, the lodge offers the perfect mid-safari break. The beauty of Baringo is legendary, with its spectacular sunsets, dazzling array of bird life, and the Njemps fishermen continuing a lifestyle little changed for over 200 years. Lake Baringo is also a Ramsar site, having been recognised internationally as a vitally important wetland.

Day 2 –Lake Baringo/Samburu
Breakfast. This morning you will visit a Pokot Village. Dropoff at the airstrip for your charter flight to Samburu. On arrival you will be transferred to your camp. Majestically situated on the high banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River (Kenya’s third largest watercourse), Sasaab commands breathtaking views across the arid landscape of the Northern Frontier District towards the jagged peak of Mt Kenya, and offers a truly exceptional safari experience in an area renowned for its variant species.

Day 3 –Samburu
Breakfast. Full day spent participating in activities offered by the lodge. Lunch at the lodge. The safari experience in Samburu land is vastly different to that found in any other part of Kenya. The Samburu Special Five (Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk and Beisa Oryx) are found in the area, whilst a strong cultural aspect complements the wildlife watching. The Samburu people are fiercely proud of their cultural tradition, and delight in sharing their customs with guests, making interaction with locals a major highlight in any visit to Sasaab.
Day 4 - Samburu/Lewa
Breakfast at the lodge. Depart for Lewa at 09h00. Afternoon game activities.
A spectacular game lodge situated on its own private estate in the centre of the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya. Surrounded by an acacia grove and overlooking a natural waterhole fed from a mountain spring Sirikoi offers some of the best game viewing in East Africa. Evening sundowners with incredible views of distant mountain ranges; delicious meals served under the stars next to a roaring fire and the sounds of animals in camp late at night are just a small part of this magical experience. A wide range of activities are offered such as helicopter trips, lion tracking, horseback riding, and visits to a local Maasai homestead. Day 5 –Lewa
Breakfast. Full day game activities.
Fantastic views of distant mountain ranges and a beautiful backdrop of snow-capped Mount Kenya provide a perfect setting for game drives and bush walks. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy has an incredible variety of wildlife with over 70 different species of mammal. There are roughly equal numbers of black and white rhino - the latest count numbers 106. The world's largest concentration of the endangered Grevy zebra resides on Lewa as well as elephant, buffalo, greater kudu, oryx, lion, leopard and cheetah amongst others. The Conservancy is teeming with birdlife with over 350 species across the diverse topography which includes rolling open plains, hills and kopjes, thick forest, valleys, escarpments, wetlands and rivers. Overnight at Sirikoi on full board basis.
Day 6 –Lewa/Masai Mara
At 07h00, your 2 helicopters await you to embark on a fly fishing excursion in Mt Kenya. Return to Sirikoi at 10h00 and depart on your charter to the famous Masai Mara. On arrival at 12h15, you will be transferred to your camp for lunch. Afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overnight at Bateleur Camp on full board basis.
Day 7 –Masai Mara
Breakfast. Full day game activities.Set among the forests just below the spot where a famous scene from Out of Africa was filmed; this setting was also chosen to illustrate the motion picture's poster. Overnight at Bateleur Camp on full board basis.
While you are relaxing inside the camp, you can take in endless, game-filled plains with the dramatic Oloololo Escarpment as a backdrop. The tree-shaded lap pool, almost 13 meters, long is a refreshing feature. Pan-African cuisine is often served in the bush at both dinner and breakfast, dinners are served in a clearing in the bush under a star-studded sky. The incredible effort, the surprise, the spectacular settings, visual impact and fairytale-like atmosphere of dining under the stars are an unforgettable African bush experience.
There are a number of exciting activities as optional extras, like viewing game from the silence of a hot-air balloon, one of the finest wildlife experiences. Not only does this give you a unique perspective of the Mara grasslands, but it also enables you to spot far more game than is possible from the ground, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Each day offers new adventures, starting with the unexpected delight of an early morning bush breakfast, followed by hours of superb game and bird-watching, there are daily lectures by a Maasai naturalist. You may also visit a Maasai cultural village and watch traditional Maasai dancing or you can wind down another action-packed African day with sundowners at a location featuring spectacular views across the Mara. From this unique vantage point, the entire Masai Mara reserve is visible on a clear day.
Day 8 – Masai Mara/JKI Airport
Breakfast. Transfer to the airstrip for your charter flight to JKI Airport where you will catch your connecting flight home.
